The Kingdom of Cambodia (Part 1)

Our Mission President encourages visits from families and taking some time to travel with them. It was such a pleasure to have our daughter and our family friend visit us last month.  It was a wonderful opportunity to see some tourist sites that we haven't had time to visit.

Anne and Chelsie arrived in Siem Reap with loads of donated items to make life better for folks here.  They brought white shirts and ties and toothbrushes with toothpaste.  We are grateful to so many people that donated!

They don't even look jet lagged.

On the first evening in Battambang we went to a cooking class. We made curry, morning glory greens, fish amok in banana leaves.  It was so fun to have our Khmer friends join us.

The girls enjoyed visiting one of the Primaries on Sunday to deliver toothbrushes and toothpaste in cute bags that were made by the Young Women in Anne's home ward.

They also met members and missionaries.

And visited one of our favorite families.

On Monday we started touring Phnom Penh.  The Killing Fields is a very sobering site--a reminder of the tragic history of Cambodia.

Then, we went to Tuol Sleng prison. It had been a school before Pol Pot turned it into the most feared building in Cambodia, very few survived.

All people were photographed and registered as they arrived.  There were also women and children.

We took a picture with one of the few survivors of the prison. (We bought the book.)
